The Features of BOYA Tension Leveler Unit

The main characteristics of BOYA Tension leveler are: high precision can form enough wrap Angle, ease of use and maintenance. In sharp contrast to other models.  

  • Components: Roll cassettes, frame, quickly open device, up and down lifting device and roll change

  • The purpose of the tension leveler machine is to provide bending stress to the strip. The bending stress depends on the wrap angle formed between the work roll and the strip. The maximum wrap angle between work roll and strip of BOYA tension leveler shall be larger than 30°.

Tension Leveler machine (stretching-bending straightener ) is a kind of metal strip shape righting equipment, to stretch and bend the strip to remove the three-dimensional defects such as wave, buckling, camber, etc and improve strip shape quality. Under the coordination of tension and bending stress, the tension leveler machine can make the strip extend with lesser tension.

Working Principle of Tension Leveler


The basic principle of strip shape righting: Make the strip extend moderately, when the external force disappears, the elastic deformation will return, and the plastic deformation will remain so that the deformation of the metal fiber eventually tends to be consistent, so as to correct the three-dimensional defects of the strip.  This extension is measured in terms of elongation. Operating the tension leveler is actually operating the elongation.


Tension leveler is composed of two inseparable parts, they are bridle roll unit and the host (we are often referred to as the tension leveler machine).  In order to correct the shape of the plate to the ideal state, the bridle rolls should be able to provide enough tension, and the tension leveler machine should be able to provide enough bending stress.  In order to provide sufficient tension, the bridle rolls must have the right diameter, right friction coefficient, right power system, but also the right initial tension.  The initial tension is provided by the equipment before and after the tension leveler unit.  So as to provide enough bending stress for the tension leveller, first of all, the frame and the roller cassettes should have enough stiffness and strength, and the quickly opening cylinder should have enough diameter, and the lifter should have enough tonnage.


Elongation is the goal of the tension leveler unit. The elongation is derived from the difference of the speed among the bridle rolls before and after the tension leveler (achieved by electronic control) and is directly related to the tension provided by the bridle roll, also is related to the wrap Angle of the work roll with the strip.
